The Influence of the Group Size on the Participation in Meetings The Case of Sicredi Aliança PR/SP
Main Article Content
Abstract
Cooperation between individuals and companies has become necessary as several transformations in the current market scenario require new forms of organization and coordination, to make companies and people more competitive. As a result, the adoption of governance structures based on collectivity, complementarity and mutual assistance, characterized as several forms of collective actions, such as cooperatives, is necessary. There are differences in organizing and maintaining collective actions formed by large and small groups. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the influence of the size of the group in the participation of the members in the assemblies of Sicredi Aliança PR / SP. In methodological terms, it was a descriptive and qualitative research, whose data collection was based on documents, interviews (carried out with the executive director) and questionnaires (answered by members and coordinators of Sicredi Aliança PR/SP). From the results it was possible to conclude that there is an influence of the size of the group, the smaller the group, the greater is the presence of members in the assemblies and the greater the participation with opinions, suggestions and criticisms. In addition, smaller groups favor closer relationships between members and their coordinators. However, just reducing the group is still not enough for members to participate more effectively, because they need more trust, leadership, communication and informal relationships.
